Relocating to the Philadelphia suburbs? Here's a real feel for the area — and how I'll help you land in exactly the right spot.
The "Main Line" is a string of historic, leafy towns running west from Philadelphia along the old Pennsylvania Railroad — Narberth, Ardmore, Haverford, Bryn Mawr, Villanova, Radnor, Wayne, and more — spread across Montgomery, Delaware, and Chester counties. It's known for beautiful architecture, top-tier schools, walkable village centers, and an easy ride into the city.
From Narberth's tight-knit borough to Ardmore's Suburban Square and Wayne's storybook downtown, each town has its own character — tree-lined streets, local shops and cafés, and homes ranging from rowhomes and twins to grand stone estates.
The Main Line is home to some of Pennsylvania's most respected public districts — Lower Merion, Radnor, and Tredyffrin/Easttown — plus a deep bench of well-regarded private and parochial schools. It's a genuinely family-friendly place to put down roots.
SEPTA's Paoli/Thorndale Regional Rail runs right through the classic Main Line towns and into Center City in roughly 25–45 minutes. The Schuylkill Expressway (I-76) and the Blue Route (I-476) keep you connected, with Philadelphia International Airport about 30–40 minutes away.
There's a lot to love close to home: college-town energy from Villanova, Bryn Mawr, and Haverford; standout shopping at Suburban Square and nearby King of Prussia; farmers markets, country clubs, and a strong restaurant scene; and green space everywhere — Valley Forge National Historical Park, the Wissahickon, and miles of trails. It's leafy and traditional, but lively and well-connected.
Moving to a new area is a lot — especially from out of town. Here's how I take the stress out of it:
